Legislators and the governor have required utilities to get 20 percent of their electricity from renewable sources by next year 2010 and 33 percent by 2020. Even with the planned wind farms in many states, some including some in California are on hold due to resistance to the building of new power lines to transmit the power they will generate. Do you think that the Federal Government should interfere in the state disputes so that the infrastructure can move forward?

What is a realistic, efficient, alternative power source?
Wind turbines are too unstable wind isn't constant , hydro electricity in dams causes major environmental impact and by using the tides requires too much space. Nuclear energy is dirty if you take mining, refinement, conversion, nuclear waste which can't be contained easily , and every other factor in it. Solar power is inefficient, so what is?

Alternative power to run central air conditioner?
I'm looking to see if there are any alternative power sources to run a standard central air conditioning unit for a single family residence which would be cheaper than being plugged into your home. Could it be run from an alternator pumping out 100 or more amps fueled from a hydrogen gas setup?Are there alternative power sources which are cheaper wind doesn't have the power to run an AC unit, but it wouldn't be dependent upon the electric company ? Could there be a hybrid perhaps of using a generator and alternator to reduce the amount of energy used by the AC unit from the electrical company?
